UT Austin academic calendar 2026–27

UT Austin’s Spring Term 2027 runs January 11–May 3, with spring break March 15–20. The containing spring semester extends through June 2 because it includes May Term; use the official 2026–27 Registrar calendar and read each deadline’s student group and Central Time.

What the data adds

Fall and Spring terms have the same boundary span
The published Fall Term and Spring Term boundaries each span 112 elapsed calendar days, or 16 weeks. These are whole-term intervals, including study/exam periods and breaks, not sixteen teaching weeks.Original date subtraction: December 14 minus August 24, 2026; May 3 minus January 11, 2027. Semester dates include additional days beyond the named term
Fall semester’s 144 elapsed days exceed Fall Term by 32. This is a curated set of key dates, not every row of the official calendar. The student-group filter includes general dates as well as the selected group; read narrower conditions in each event, such as new students, continuing/readmitted students or graduate-only changes. General does not mean every student must take the same action.

A date filter compares the last listed date of an event. An exam entry such as December 10–12 and 14 retains those actual days; it does not turn December 13 into an exam day. Open the official exam schedules for your actual courses.

Spring registration starts before the Spring Term

The public calendar lists November 2–13, 2026 for Spring registration, November 17 for spring tuition bills and December 14–18 for continuing/readmitted registration. Those dates precede January classes and belong in a Spring planning view.

Use your RIS for personal registration access times and holds. Public date ranges do not provide continuous access for every student. The registration guide explains the current schedule, unique numbers, backups and waitlist swaps.

Payment and attendance confirmation follow their own instructions. Read What I Owe and My Tuition Bill with your account’s term and deadline; a zero bill can still need confirmation.

Dates are not interchangeable actions. Late exceptions require the stated approvals, and school/program rules may add requirements. Read the official row and applicable procedure.

A graduate-only credit/no-credit date is not an undergraduate pass/fail deadline. A university Commencement date is not a degree-application deadline. Match the action, group and term before saving a date.

Keep class days, breaks, study days and exams separate

Spring classes begin January 11 and the last class day is April 26, 2027. Study days are April 27–28; the published final-exam dates are April 29–30, May 1 and May 3. Spring Term therefore ends later than its last class day.

Spring break is March 15–20. The calendar still places a remaining-tuition deadline at 11:59 p.m. CT on March 16. A class break does not suspend a separately stated payment deadline.

Summer has distinct First, Second, Nine-week and full Summer Terms. June 3 is not the start of every summer course: Second Term begins July 12. Use the actual course schedule and term before applying a summer class-day rule.

Use the current source and preserve its unresolved label

The Registrar states that all deadlines on this calendar use Central Time, dates can change and the Course Schedule controls specific course starts and ends. This guide’s source check is October 27, 2026; it is not a live account feed.

Use the official page for the calendar subscription link. The university cautions that Google/iCal/Outlook copies may not reflect later changes, so verify a consequential deadline against the published calendar and your own access or bill instructions.

Future 2027–28 dates, archived years and law-only event calendars are different sources. They are excluded from this current 2026–27 timeline rather than blended into the next undergraduate deadline.

When does Spring 2027 start at UT Austin?

Spring Term classes begin January 11, 2027. Spring Term ends May 3, while the containing spring semester runs through June 2 because it includes May Term. Check the Course Schedule for the specific course’s dates.

When is UT Austin spring break in 2027?

The current Registrar calendar lists March 15–20, 2027. A break from classes does not cancel separately stated deadlines; the calendar also lists remaining tuition payment on March 16 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time.

The semester contains the named terms. Fall semester includes Fall and Winter Terms; spring semester includes Spring and May Terms. Main-term class, study and exam dates do not cover every day of the containing semester.

Which deadlines apply to undergraduates?

Read the group and action on each source row. For example, Spring 2027 undergraduate registration runs January 11–19 and the normal last add day is January 19; graduate/law registration and add dates end January 14. Graduate credit/no-credit is a different action from undergraduate pass/fail.

What time zone controls these deadlines?

The Registrar says all deadlines on its academic calendar use Central Time. Specific deadline times, personal RIS access and the actual tuition bill still matter; a date without an invented time should remain date-only.
