UT Austin registration for Spring 2027
Find the window assigned to you, build a schedule with alternatives, and finish the tuition or attendance step.
In this guide
For UT Austin Spring 2027 registration, use your RIS for your own access time and holds; the public calendar lists November 2–13, 2026, with a further continuing/readmitted period December 14–18. Prepare current section unique numbers, register during your assigned window, then pay tuition or confirm attendance as instructed. Official process, current calendar
A public registration period does not give every student continuous access for all of its dates. Keep a course description, an offered section, a waitlist position and a secured registration as separate records.
Public Spring 2027 calendar and registration workflow checked October 27, 2026. RIS controls personal access times and holds; the Course Schedule controls current section information. Catalog credit/prerequisite examples do not establish current seats, registration or degree applicability.
Prepare a first choice and a workable alternative
- Check advising requirements and the degree plan you are following.
- Use the current Course Schedule to choose sections and backups.
- Read your RIS for personal access dates and times.
- Resolve the holds listed there through the responsible office.
- Use the correct section unique number in the official registration system.
- Complete tuition payment or attendance confirmation and check the result on My Tuition Bill through One Stop.
Meet with your academic adviser about requirements, then check the actual sections offered for the term. Write down unique numbers, meeting times and a backup section for a required course. A course title alone does not identify the section you intend to add.
Run a current degree audit before advising. Record the requirement each proposed course should satisfy and any prerequisite that affects later semesters. That gives an adviser a concrete plan to review.
One Stop’s sequence also calls for resolving registration holds. Check the RIS for the actual hold and follow the responsible office’s instructions. A course being open does not clear a separate restriction on your registration. Preparation and RIS

Choose the registration task to resolve
Build or check my schedule
Use descriptions for academic context and the current schedule for actual sections.
- Confirm degree requirements and required advising.
- Choose current unique numbers, meeting times and backups.
- Read restrictions and credit exclusions before adding a course.
Find my access time or hold
RIS is the personal access/hold record; the public calendar does not replace it.
- Open RIS in the official UT system.
- Read the selected term’s exact access dates and times.
- Resolve a hold through the office identified in that record.
Register during my window
Use the official registration system and the selected section’s unique number.
- Check the current section information again.
- Submit the actual registration action during your window.
- Review the resulting schedule; a planned or waitlisted section is not the same as an enrolled one.
Review a waitlist or swap
Read the current waitlist/swap rules and the class you would drop if the swap succeeds.
- Check whether the waitlist is available and what registration conditions still apply.
- Keep the swap class and its consequence explicit.
- Monitor the official result instead of treating a waitlist place as a seat.
Finish tuition or attendance confirmation
Enrolling in sections is followed by the applicable tuition/attendance action.
- Read your own My Tuition Bill deadline.
- Follow the payment, financial-aid or zero-bill confirmation path that applies.
- Check the posted completion message.
The public dates are a frame around your RIS window
The first published Spring 2027 registration period spans twelve calendar days inclusive, November 2–13. The December 14–18 continuing/readmitted period spans five. Those original interval counts describe public periods, not the length of a student’s assigned access window.
The same current calendar lists January 7 for new undergraduate and previously unregistered graduate students, January 7–10 for all-student registration, and different January 11 onward undergraduate versus graduate/law periods. Use the applicable row and your RIS rather than an archived semester’s access time.

| Public Spring 2027 preparation date | Published event | Use it with |
|---|---|---|
| November 2–13, 2026 | Spring 2027 registration | Your own RIS dates/times and holds |
| November 17, 2026 | Spring 2027 tuition bills distributed | Your individual My Tuition Bill deadline |
| December 14–18, 2026 | Continuing/readmitted registration | Your current eligibility and RIS window |
| January 7–10, 2027 | All-student registration period | Current access times; not a promise of seats |

Two four-hour course listings do not always mean eight usable credits
A source crosswalk of M 408K and M 408Q shows four catalog hours each, but the current mathematics catalog lists them in the same group from which only one course may count for credit. Adding 4 + 4 on a planning sheet therefore does not establish eight distinct degree credits. Check the actual credit rule before choosing a second overlapping calculus course.
Both current descriptions and prerequisites matter. A course offered in the catalog may not be on the current term’s schedule, and a section appearing in the schedule may still have restrictions or no open seats. Keep the official catalog, current Course Schedule and your IDA/advising result together.
Historical official grade distributions can add context, with their term and denominator retained. They cannot establish this term’s seats, workload or a student’s likely grade.

| Catalog record | Hours | Credit condition to read |
|---|---|---|
| M 408K · Differential Calculus | 4 | One of the listed mutually exclusive calculus group |
| M 408Q · Differential and Integral Calculus for Business | 4 | Same only-one-counted group; prerequisites still apply |
Current catalog records retrieved October 27, 2026; original comparison of hours and the explicit credit-exclusion text. This is a planning example, not an individual credit evaluation.
Use your scheduled access window
Open registration through One Stop’s official Register Now link during the times shown on your RIS. Add the intended unique numbers and review the resulting schedule, including linked components and meeting times.
If an add fails, identify the reported reason before changing the plan. A time conflict, a prerequisite, a reserved seat and a closed class are different problems. Ask the offering department or adviser about the specific restriction instead of assuming that another refresh will remove it.
Keep the backup course until you understand the effect of replacing it. A desired course can remain unavailable while your remaining degree plan still needs an enrolled alternative.
Waitlists: the swap class is part of the transaction
One Stop says a department must enable a waitlist before students can join it. Students must already be registered for at least one class; the published limits are two lists per course and four lists at one time. The See My Waitlists page shows your position, notices and any selected swap class. Waitlist instructions
A swap class is an enrolled course selected to be dropped if the waitlisted course becomes available. In an illustrative plan, a student holds an acceptable afternoon section while waiting for a morning section. The selected swap links those two actions; it is not an extra unrelated course to delete early.
UT’s own example warns that dropping the selected swap course without updating the waitlist can prevent an automatic add when a seat opens. Check the swap after schedule changes. A position on a list is useful status information, not a promised admission date.
Read the cutoff for the term you are using
The current One Stop page says waitlists operate through the sixth class day in fall and spring and the second class day in summer. The course schedule supplies the calendar dates. Count neither rule from a remembered semester nor from an old discussion thread. Add/drop and waitlist rules
A class-day rule is different from a calendar-day count. Holidays and the term’s structure can change the date that corresponds to it. Use the current term’s published schedule, then confirm any department-specific approval process.
After the normal process closes, follow the official add/drop or late-registration instructions. An instructor’s willingness to discuss a seat does not, by itself, put the course on the registered schedule.
Finish the tuition step and check the result
After registration, One Stop directs students to pay the tuition and fee bill or confirm attendance. Review the applicable deadline and your account’s actual status. Registration and payment are connected steps with separate records. Official process
Save the final schedule and verify that a successful waitlist move produced the intended replacement. If you change credit hours, revisit the bill and any relevant financial-aid conditions with the appropriate office.
For planning costs around that schedule, use the 2026–27 attendance-budget comparison. For grade scenarios, the UT GPA calculator keeps graded hours and excluded symbols separate.
Questions answered
When can I register for Spring 2027?
The public calendar lists November 2–13, 2026, a December 14–18 continuing/readmitted period and further January access periods. Your RIS gives the actual dates and times assigned to you; do not assume you can register continuously throughout a public range.

Where is my personal access time?
Use the official Registration Information Sheet, or RIS. One Stop identifies it as the place for your registration dates, times and holds. A public page cannot display or replace that personal record.

How do I clear a registration hold?
Read the hold and responsible office on RIS, then follow that office’s stated process. Required advising and other holds have their own completion conditions. Recheck RIS before your access window rather than assuming an attempted action removed the hold.

What is a course unique number?
It identifies the particular class section used in registration. The current Course Schedule lists each offered class with time, location, instructor when available and its unique number. A catalog course identifier is not the same as that section identifier.
Official source · Checked 2026-10-27
Does the catalog show current availability?
The catalog supplies descriptions, prerequisites and academic rules. The current Course Schedule supplies offered sections and seat information, which can change. A catalog record or historical grade report does not establish a currently available seat.

How do I confirm that my classes are secured?
After the applicable tuition payment or attendance-confirmation action, check My Tuition Bill for the university’s posted registration-complete confirmation. A zero bill or pending aid can require a specific confirmation workflow; use your own displayed deadline.
