UT Austin campus map: plan your route

Find your building, check the entrance and test the complete route from West Campus.

In this guide

The official UT Austin campus map is linked from UT’s wayfinding page, alongside building information, parking and construction resources. Resolve the building code and actual entrance before planning the trip; a map pin does not establish the correct room, access route or permission to park.

Use the university map for university destinations and the housing map for the residential shortlist. The interactive map’s live controls and present accessible-route coverage were not inspected in this text-source review; the official wayfinding page describes its features.

Official wayfinding descriptions and two selected office code/address records reviewed October 27, 2026. Map-app controls and live accessible-route coverage were not inspected. No live construction/elevator status, accessible-path certification or walking-time calculation is provided.

Choose the location question

Use the selector to choose a building, entrance, parking or residence task. It links to public resources and a short checklist; it does not locate you or calculate an accessible path.

I have a building code and room

Resolve the building before assuming an entrance or room.

  1. Copy the code and room separately from the current class/appointment.
  2. Use UT’s building-information entry to confirm the full name and address.
  3. Confirm the assigned room with the department or syllabus.

Choose the map for the decision

UT’s wayfinding guidance describes accessible-entrance, parking, elevator and construction features and a separate building-information resource. That is a source description, not a test here of the map app’s controls, completeness, current route or elevator availability.

Start with the official campus map for a university building. For an apartment shortlist, the maintained housing directory and housing map address the surrounding residential search.

Resolve the building before the room

Copy the building abbreviation and room number separately from the current course or appointment record. Search the building first; then verify the room with the department, syllabus or appointment instructions. A matching street address does not tell you which interior room a class uses.

For a first visit, save the full building name alongside the code. If two destinations have similar names, compare the official address before starting. This is especially useful when an appointment, interview or class is somewhere other than the part of campus you know.

Testing Services publishes both SZB’s street address and suite 5.102, while One Stop’s location is MAI 1 at the Tower. Comparing these two records shows what a bare pin omits: the building code and floor/office form separate parts of the destination. Neither office example assigns a class room.

The two maps also have different endpoints: the official university map helps resolve a campus destination; a housing profile establishes a residential address. Joining them still requires the real departure door, crossings, destination entrance and interior route. No walking minutes or accessible connection is derived from these two office records.

Plan the entrance and access sequence

The entrance nearest a map pin may not be the entrance you need. Review the relevant accessibility layers, the approach from the street, the elevator connection and the final room location. If a required segment is uncertain, ask the destination office for directions before the visit.

UT also links construction advisories from its wayfinding page. Check those near the trip, particularly when a familiar path is being changed. A saved screenshot is useful for orientation, but it does not establish that today’s entrance, path or elevator is available.

Test the West Campus trip as a complete route

When comparing apartments, begin at the door you would use and end at the entrance serving the class. Include street crossings and the trip from the campus edge to the building. An advertised distance to UT leaves those choices unresolved.

For your own timing check, record the day, departure time, route and destination. Repeat for an early class and a later return if both matter to your schedule. Keep the observation tied to those conditions; do not turn one trial into a universal commute time for the property.

Separate a destination from a parking right

Finding a nearby garage does not establish permission, price or overnight storage. Check the current parking rules for the exact facility, day and event. The UT parking guide helps distinguish a commuter permit from residence-hall parking and overnight needs.

Save the destination name and a backup route before a time-sensitive visit. If you change course sections or the university changes an assigned location, update the trip as well. The useful map is the one connected to your current schedule, access needs and actual starting point.

Questions answered

Where is the official UT campus map?

UT’s wayfinding page links the official map, building information, parking and construction resources. Follow those current university links.

UT — wayfinding resource descriptions · Checked 2026-10-27

Does a building address tell me my classroom?

No. Keep the building code, assigned room and entrance separate. The two office examples illustrate a street address plus floor/suite, not your personal class assignment.

UT Testing Services — SZB address and suite · Checked 2026-10-27

Is SZB the same place as One Stop at the Tower?

No. Testing Services lists SZB at 1912 Speedway, suite 5.102. One Stop publishes MAI 1 at 110 Inner Campus Drive. Check the destination on your own appointment.

Texas One Stop — MAI 1 Tower office location · Checked 2026-10-27

Are the map’s accessible routes verified here?

No. The university describes access-related map features, but this text-source review did not test the app or certify a present route, entrance or elevator. Resolve uncertain segments with the destination office.

Does a housing-map pin establish my walk to class?

No. Confirm both actual doors, crossings and the interior trip. A residential address or neighborhood label alone does not establish a travel time or accessible connection.

Is a nearby garage enough to park there?

No. Facility permissions, visitor/permit rules, timing and events still control. Use UT Parking and Transportation for the actual parking decision.
