UT Austin transcript: choose the right record
An academic summary, a UT transcript and a previous school’s record solve different requests. Choose before paying.
In this guide
A UT Austin official transcript costs $20 per copy and is ordered through Texas One Stop. Choose the record and recipient-approved delivery method before paying: an Academic Summary, enrollment verification and a previous school’s transcript are different documents.
For a UT course list, ask whether the recipient accepts an Academic Summary. The page called “Unofficial Previous School Transcripts” concerns another institution’s records held by UT; it does not produce an unofficial version of your UT transcript.
Texas One Stop records and ordering instructions reviewed October 27, 2026; previously checked Admissions instructions retain their own date. Public prices and processing descriptions do not establish recipient acceptance, posting status or delivery of a particular order.
Find the record for this request
Choose the purpose below before following the university link. This guide does not read your student record or place an order. If the recipient’s wording is unclear, get its exact document and direct-delivery requirement first.
Choose the document you need
An official UT academic record
Choose an accepted delivery route after the record state is right.
- Ask whether the document must arrive directly from UT.
- Review the posted grades/degree or select the applicable hold.
- Check recipient, delivery and payment before submitting your own order.
A course list for an informal request
An Academic Summary is a different service from an official transcript.
- Ask the recipient whether a summary is acceptable.
- Use the university’s Academic Summary entry.
- Do not describe it as degree verification.
Proof of enrollment or an awarded degree
Enrollment verification serves a separate certification request.
- Identify the exact information and date the recipient needs.
- Read the official verification service.
- Choose the recipient’s required document rather than paying for a different record.
Another school’s record submitted to UT
A copy held by UT is not a newly issued official record from that school.
- Identify the originating institution.
- Read the unofficial previous-school service.
- If an official original is required, follow that institution’s instructions.
An order seems missing or incomplete
Resolve the existing order’s state before paying again.
- Check payment, delivery method and any grades/degree hold.
- For PDF, check the intended recipient’s two access emails and link date.
- Use order status or Transcript Services with the order details.
Choose the record before the delivery method
One Stop describes the academic summary as a course list with identifying and academic information. It lacks the university seal and registrar’s signature and does not confirm degrees. An official transcript provides the broader academic record, including UT coursework, GPA, recorded transfer work and degrees.
Ask the recipient for the required document and whether you may upload it yourself or it must arrive directly from UT. Keep the exact request. “Send a transcript” is not enough detail to choose the right purchase and delivery route.

| Need | Document to check | Key distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Official UT academic record | Official UT transcript | Choose the recipient’s accepted delivery method |
| Course list for an informal request | Academic summary | Recipient must accept it; it does not verify a degree |
| Proof of attendance or degree | Enrollment certification | A separate records service |
| A copy of another school’s record held by UT | Unofficial previous-school transcript | Not a new official transcript from that school |

Choose PDF, institutional delivery or mail
The ordering guide lists mailed delivery, an electronic option to eligible institutions through SPEEDE, and PDF delivery. A PDF order goes through a separate payment system rather than What I Owe. Its recipient receives the official document through the delivery service, with access instructions.
Verify the destination address and accepted format before paying. A personal copy downloaded for your files may not meet an instruction requiring direct delivery. If the intended organization is not available in an institutional-delivery list, use an accepted alternative rather than selecting a similarly named recipient.
One Stop’s current ordering instructions distinguish online mail, eligible SPEEDE delivery and PDF from same-day in-person pickup. An online order is not a pickup order. PDF delivery is described as same day after payment; SPEEDE as next business day after payment; mailed orders ordinarily leave within two business days, with longer processing possible at peaks. Mailing time comes after that processing stage.

| Route | Published timing / condition | Check before payment |
|---|---|---|
| PDF online | Same day after payment; link expires after 30 calendar days | Recipient acceptance, two access emails, separate PDF payment system |
| SPEEDE online | Next business day after payment; eligible institutional destinations | Exact recipient must be listed; graduate-admission/HR purposes may need another route |
| Mail online | Ordinarily leaves within two business days; One Stop allows at least two weeks domestic delivery | Complete address, processing peaks and any paid tracking/expediting |
| Same-day pickup | In-person order only; enrollment-history eligibility applies | Do not expect to collect an online order |

Check whether the record is complete yet
Before an immediate order, review the grades and degree information that need to appear. One Stop offers Hold for Grades and Hold for Degree choices. Those serve a different purpose from sending the record as it stands today.
For example, an application asking for a conferred degree is not necessarily satisfied by a transcript ordered immediately after the last exam. Identify the required record state first. For a deadline, also distinguish the date you submit an order from the date the recipient can access the completed document.
Review the paid order rather than placing another
One Stop cautions that paid orders cannot be revised or canceled through the normal ordering flow and refund requests may not be accepted. Check the name, recipient, format and hold option before the final payment step.
If delivery appears missing, use the order status and the recipient’s instructions to identify the problem. A PDF access email, an unpaid order and a mailed transcript are different cases. Keep the order details available when contacting Transcript Services instead of immediately creating another paid request.
For a simple planning example, two separately required $20 official copies have a $40 copy-fee component before any delivery extras. An avoidable third copy would add another $20. This is authored arithmetic, not a recommendation to buy multiple copies: confirm whether the recipient needs a separate order first.
The delivery comparison also reveals two separate clocks: payment-to-release and release-to-access or mail arrival. A same-day PDF description does not turn a two-week mail allowance into same-day receipt, and a Hold for Degree order waits for the required record state.
Sending a record to UT is a different task
Applicants and current students submitting coursework to UT should follow Admissions’ transcript instructions. Those instructions depend on student type and distinguish official records from screenshots, advising reports and other substitutes. Admissions does not accept transcripts by ordinary email.
If the issue is an unposted course or a degree requirement, resolve that record question before treating a new transcript order as the repair. The IDA guide explains the degree-progress check; the AP-credit guide explains why a qualifying score may still need a petition.
