Find housing that works for you and your pet

A pet-friendly label does not settle the animal, room or price. Get approval for your particular pet and add the full pet cost to the quote.

Compare pet policies

Ask for approval before paying

  • Give the property the animal’s type, breed, age, weight and number of pets. Ask which restrictions apply to your proposed apartment.
  • Request the pet addendum, screening steps and approval process. Ask whether a roommate or shared bedroom changes the rules.
  • Separate a refundable deposit, a nonrefundable fee and recurring pet rent. Ask whether charges are per animal or per apartment.
  • Check where animals may go, leash and waste rules, and what happens during maintenance visits or an emergency.

An old advertisement or a resident’s pet is not approval for your application. Save the property’s written answer.

The same FAQ advertises semester and 12-month terms, then describes only 12-month terms. Water inclusion must be reconciled with current fee disclosures.

Put pet charges on the housing budget

Multiply recurring pet rent by the number of payments in your contract, then add nonrefundable charges. Keep refundable deposits in the cash-needed total rather than treating them as a guaranteed expense or refund. Get separate quotes if different animals attract different charges.

For example, a hypothetical $30 monthly pet charge across 12 payments adds $360. A $250 nonrefundable fee would bring those pet charges to $610 before any deposit or damage. This is an illustration, not a property offer.

Use the correct animal process

If your question concerns a service or assistance animal, ask for the property’s accommodation process and consult an appropriate official resource. The ordinary-pet examples above do not establish accommodation requirements or fees.
