UT Austin / Apartment decisions
Is the extra rent
worth it?
Put the full lease cost beside the time you save and the features you care about.
Loading the housing catalogue…
Choose your plans.
Choose up to four exact plans. Set one as your starting point.
Shared links include your plans, starting point and campus destination. Quotes, notes, schedules and personal dollar values stay on this device.
What will you pay?
Your budget inputs
These allowances are yours to change. Quotes keep their exact plan. A rent split does not divide deposits, fees or contract liability.
What does a shorter walk cost?
Use a trip to your usual part of campus. Enter your own one-way times; the map’s rough ranges are there to help you shortlist.
What are the extras worth to you?
Compare the operator’s feature prices with what you would pay. A difference between two apartments can include several features at once.
Add your own feature values
Enter the extra value this option has for you compared with your starting plan. Use a negative number when you prefer the starting plan. Value convenience here; costs already in your budget stay in the cost comparison.
How we got this
Costs use the housing explorer’s dated plan prices and your allowances. Some required charges still need a quote. Advertised prices do not confirm a room is available.
Time saved = the difference in one-way minutes × 2 × round trips per week × active weeks ÷ 60. Cost per hour saved uses the extra cost across the lease, including payments during weeks you are away.
Feature research covers 79 West Campus places, co-ops and housing networks. A published upgrade charge belongs to its named property and terms. When the feature price or lease year is missing, it stays unknown.
