How do I get or replace my UT ID card?
Submit a photo online, wait for the ready email, then pick up your first UT ID at the Flawn Academic Center for $20. An additional $28 replacement charge may apply, so report a lost or stolen card before requesting another one.

How do I order my first card?
Use UT’s online photo submission after upgrading your EID. Wait for the email saying the card is printed, then pick it up at the ID Center on the first floor of the Flawn Academic Center.
UT says the first card costs $20 through What I Owe. You can pick it up during orientation or wait until the start of the term.
What should I take to the ID Center?
The ID card rules say students attending classes on campus must obtain the university photo ID. Bring a government-issued photo ID so staff can confirm who you are when needed.
Keep the UT card with you on university grounds. Don’t lend it to another person: its access and benefits aren’t transferable, and fraudulent use can lead to discipline.
What do I do if it’s lost or stolen?
Report a lost or stolen card using the ID Center process, then request a replacement at the Flawn Academic Center. The catalog says an additional $28 replacement fee may apply.
Reporting it matters because the card can open authorized buildings and identify you for services. Don’t leave an active lost card available for someone else to use.
Will every replacement cost $28?
Not necessarily. UT replaces cards when data must change, the card is defective or it has normal wear, as well as when it’s lost or stolen. The official rule says the extra $28 applies only in some cases, without publishing a complete fee-by-reason list.
Take the old card to the ID Center when you still have it and ask staff whether your reason carries a charge before ordering.
What does the card do?
Your proximity-enabled ID works for libraries, University Health Services, authorized residence halls and buildings, and athletic or special events. RecSports and dining plans also use the physical card.
Get the first card before you need building or service access. Replace a lost card promptly; for a worn or defective card, take it to the ID Center first so staff can decide whether a replacement fee applies.
