How do UT meal plans and Dine In Dollars work?

On-campus residence hall students get unlimited dining-hall entry plus $800 Dine In Dollars in their 2026–27 room-and-board charge. Commuters can buy meal blocks from $325 that last through spring 2027, or an Unlimited plan that ends with the term purchased.

What comes with a residence hall room?

The 2026–27 resident plan includes unlimited visits to J2, Jester City Limits and Kins Dining, plus $400 Dine In Dollars each term. It’s already included in residence hall room and board.

Unlimited means you can enter those three dining halls more than once a day. Dine In Dollars are a separate balance for UHD restaurants, coffee shops and convenience stores.

Should a resident switch to the Flex plan?

Residents may give up unlimited dining and pay $500 more per term for $1,850 Dine In Dollars each term. Email housing@austin.utexas.edu to ask for that change.

Choose Flex only after comparing where you actually eat. It adds restaurant spending money, but removes unlimited dining-hall visits and adds $1,000 across fall and spring.

What can an off-campus student buy?

UT’s commuter plans offer two meal blocks or unlimited entry for a term. Pay the bill through What I Owe, then check that the plan appears on your UT ID.

Prices and contents come from University Housing and Dining. The meal blocks expire at the end of spring; unlimited entry covers one term.

How do I use Dine In Dollars?

Hand your UT ID to the cashier at a UHD-operated dining location; the purchase comes out of your Dine In Dollars balance. You can check the balance online and add more at any time.

Dine In Dollars aren’t general cash for every campus or Austin business. Bevo Pay ended in August 2026, so check that a location is run by UHD before ordering.

Which plan should I choose?

Resident Dine In Dollars roll from fall into spring and expire at the end of spring 2027. Longhorn 25 and 60 meal blocks also expire at spring’s end, while Longhorn Unlimited expires at the end of the fall or spring term you bought it for.

Keep the included resident plan if dining halls will be your main meals. As a commuter, buy the meal count you can use before that plan expires. Unused meals won’t make a larger plan cheaper for you.
